Most young people in our service won’t need to see our dietician. Your meal plan (if you have one) will already have been compiled by our dietician, paediatrician and other practitioners. Together, we’ll create a unique plan that’s specially tailored to your condition.
Patients will only routinely see our dietician if they have nutritional needs related to a medical condition (like diabetes or coeliac disease), unusual physical demands (like athletes) or if they’re particularly tall or small for their age.
We always recommend that young people with eating disorders who follow vegan diets should not continue with veganism until well after they have recovered. Our clinical research and experience suggests that patients who try to persist with veganism experience much greater difficulties during the recovery process.
